SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse redshirt junior wide receiver Trishton Jackson announced on Thursday that he has decided to forgo his senior season and enter the 2020 NFL Draft. Jackson caught 69 passes for 1,050 yards (15.2 avg.) and 12 touchdowns in 13 career games for the Orange from 2018-19.
Â
"It has been my dream from a very young age to ultimately become of professional athlete," Jackson wrote on Twitter. "I would like to thank my numerous coaches and mentors for all of their wisdom and guidance along the way. I would also like to thank my family for their continued love and support. I can't be gracious enough for the opportunity to play the game I love at both Michigan State and Syracuse University."
Â
A two-sport star in football and basketball and Michigan's West Bloomfield High School, Jackson began his collegiate career at Michigan State. In 21 games for the Spartans from 2016-17, he had 17 receptions for 232 yards (13.6 avg.) and one touchdown.
Â
Jackson left the school after his sophomore year and transferred to Syracuse. He sat out the 2018 regular season in accordance with NCAA rules before making his Orange debut in the 2018 Camping World Bowl. Jackson caught three passes for 27 yards, including a 14-yard touchdown, against West Virginia to help Syracuse to a 34-18 victory over the Mountaineers.
Â
This past fall, Jackson authored a breakout junior season. He was the Orange's top receiver, making 66 catches for 1,023 yards (15.5 avg.) and 11 touchdowns on his way to All-ACC Second Team honors. Jackson logged five 100-yard games and became the sixth player in school history to post a 1,000-yard receiving season. Heading into the thick of bowl season, Jackson is tied for third in the ACC in touchdown receptions and tied for fifth in the league in receiving yards per game (85.3).
Â
"We appreciate everything Trishton did for our program during his time at Syracuse University," Orange head coach Dino Babers said. "We wish him the best as he pursues his dream of playing professionally."
Â
The 2020 NFL Draft is scheduled to take place from April 23-25 in Las Vegas.
