
Track Season Kicks Off This Weekend

The Syracuse indoor season kicks off this weekend at the Cornell Greg Page Relays and the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener at Boston University.
SETTING THE SCENE
- Three outdoor track and field All-Americans return to the Orange this season in Iliass Aouani (2019 10k), Laura Dickinson (2019 10k) and Aidan Tooker (2018 steeplechase)
- In addition to that group, Syracuse also returns All-ACC runners Michael Phillips, Rachel Bonner, Dominic Hockenbury and Kevin James, plus the entirety of the women's 4x100-meter relay team that set a school record and narrowly missed a trip to the NCAA Championships last season.
PREVIEWING BOSTON
- It'll be a distance-filled opener for the Orange's first of four trips to BU this indoor season.
- Jordan Jacob and Annie Heffernan will make their Syracuse indoor debuts in the women's 5,000-meter run.
- Alex Comerford, Joey Eovaldi and Silas Derfel will race in the men's 5k, the first collegiate races for Comerford and Derfel.
PREVIEWING CORNELL
- Freshman Nassem Smith will make his Syracuse debut in the 60-meter hurdles, alongside Andrew Aguilera and Jamil Adams.
- Fellow rookie Shaleah Colaire will do the same in the women's 60-meter hurdles, with Aviana Goode. The two hurdles races will begin the event for the Orange.
- The deepest field of the day will be in the women's 60-meter dash, with five Syracuse runners set to kickoff their season. Eunice Boateng, Dasia Pressley, Justice Richardson and freshmen Aja Davis and Dennisha Page will race for 'Cuse.
- The Orange will also post a men's 4x800-meter relay squad, comprised of James Proctor, Connor Preston, Ryan Jermyn and Chase Balick.
- Three of those men (Balick, Jermyn and Preston) will double back in the 500-meter run, with Cameron Bailey, Austin Rucker and Proctor, which is the deepest men's field of the day for SU.
- Bearrett Tarris and Sarah Eddy will compete in the women's 500-meter run immediately following.
- Mariana McManus will represent 'Cuse in the women's 300-meter dash at 3:05 p.m., before the 3000-meters close the day.
- The men's 3k will be Matt Cavallaro, Declan Kottmeier and Robert Roosa, while Kate Kemnitz and Keiana Mitchell will race for the women.
COMING OFF CROSS COUNTRY
-The men's team placed 27th at Nationals after being runner up at Regionals.
- The season highlight was the Orange men capturing their sixth ACC title in their seven seasons in the conference.
-The women's side earned two All-ACC honors in Amanda Vestri and Rachel Bonner.
- The men's team had five All-ACC honorees in Nathan Henderson, Joe Dragon, Noah Beveridge, Nathan Lawler, and Dominic Hockenbury.
- The men also earned four All-Region honors in Joe Dragon, Nathan Henderson, Nathan Lawler, and Kevin James.
- The women placed fifth at ACC's and at Regionals.
LAST YEAR'S MEET
- Syracuse ran at the Greg Page Relays this weekend last year, but did not compete in Boston.
- Aviana Goode jumped 5.63 in the long jump to grab the victory, while Cheyenne Trigg finished third in the 60-meter dash in 8.01.
- Andrew Aguilara finished ninth in the 60 meters in 8.61.
- Keith McAteer took second in the 3000 meters in 8:56.5. Pierce Miller (9:43.59) and Declan Kottmeier (9:54.56) finished 11th and 14th.
- Kelsey Potts, Ryley Higgins, Kerry Reilly and Olivia Elston combined to compete in the DMR for the Orange, taking second overall (13:18.14).
- In the 300-meter dash, Alexis Crosby finished in 40.85 seconds, which was good for third, while Alexis Harper crossed the line just behind in fourth (40.90). Lily Worden (45.83/28th) Hannah Loder (45.96/29th) and Mariana McManus (47.44/34th) also competed for the Orange.
- Jordan Davenport finished 10th in the 300 for the Orange men, crossing the line in 36.18.
- Robert Roosa placed 10th in the men's 500-meter dash, he crossed the line in 1:09.41. James Proctor finished 15th (1:12.14), and Cameron Bailey closed in 22nd (1:14.28). Kayli Jones and Elizabeth Cultra finished in 21st and 22nd, respectively in the women's 500. Jones finished in 1:30.38, while Cultra crossed the line in 1:30.69.
- Keiana Mitchell was the lone SU women's competitor in the 3000-meter run, finishing in 11:23.99, which was good for eighth.
