The Syracuse men's lacrosse team shot back up in the polls after a second-straight top-15 win on Sunday. The Orange now rank 14th in the USILA Coaches Poll and 12th in the Inside Lacrosse media poll.
The ranking sets up a battle of top-15 teams on Saturday, when No. 10 Virginia comes to town for the ACC opener on Saturday. The Orange and Cavaliers have played nothing but tight battles over the history of their rivalry. In 35 meetings, the Orange lead the all-time series 18-17. Syracuse has scored just one more goal all-time than Virginia and 16 meetings have been decided by just one goal.
The battle of top-15 teams headlines Youth and Team Day, presented by Chick-Fil-A. Lacrosse teams and groups can receive complimentary admission to the Carrier Dome on Saturday, by filling out the Team Complimentary Admission Form.
Loyola is the unanimous No. 1 in both polls this week, garnering 360 points and all-18 first-place votes in the USILA poll. Maryland (334), Cornell (313), Yale (301) and Penn State (279) round out the top-five.
Syracuse will face No. 3 Cornell, No. 6 Duke, No. 10 Virginia, No. 12 Notre Dame, No. 15 North Carolina, No. 18 Johns Hopkins, as well as Rutgers and Navy who are receiving votes in their remaining gauntlet of a schedule. The Orange have already faced No. 17 Army, No. 19 Colgate and Albany (receiving votes) on the year.
The top-five remains the same in the Inside Lacrosse poll, but this week's opponent, Virginia, ranks 13th. The Hoos are one spot and 10 points behind the Orange in the poll.
Faceoff for Saturday's showdown is slated for Noon on ESPNU. Season tickets remain the best value to watch the Orange this season. At just $65 for adults and $35 for youth (12 and under) fans can purchase season tickets. Season tickets are in the reserved section behind the team's bench and come with other benefits during the season which are exclusive to season ticket holders. Tickets can be purchased at Cuse.com/Tickets, by calling 888-DOME-TIX or in person at the Carrier Dome Box Office.
Individual game tickets are also available at $15 for adults and $10 for youth.
