WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Syracuse returns to the state of North Carolina for the second time this week to face Wake Forest on Saturday, March 2. Opening tip is set for noon.

ORANGE UPDATE
Syracuse (18-10, 9-6) posted its highest point total in regulation in a 93-85 setback to No. 5 North Carolina in Chapel Hill on Tuesday. Junior Tyus Battle led the Orange with 29 points. Three others – Elijah Hughes, Frank Howard and Oshae Brissett – also reached double figures in scoring.

The Orange led for the first 9:14 of the game, but North Carolina came back and took its first lead at 22-21. The squads battled for the remainder of the half before Syracuse secured a 46-43 halftime lead. The Tar Heels started to pull away in the second half, but the Orange came back to even the score at 63-63. North Carolina responded with a 9-2 scoring run to take the lead for good. The Tar Heels scored 34 of their points from the free throw line.

SCOUTING THE DEMON DEACONS
Wake Forest defeated Miami, 76-75, on Tuesday to improve its record to 11-16 and 4-11 in ACC play.

Junior Brandon Childress leads the Demon Deacons' offense, averaging 15.0 points per game. Jaylen Hoard (13.8 ppg.) and Chaundee Brown (11.5 ppg.) also average double figures in scoring. Hoard ranks fifth in the ACC in rebounding (8.0 rpg.), while Childress is sixth in assists (4.19 apg.).

Danny Manning is in his fifth season at the helm of the Wake Forest program. The former consensus National Player of the Year at Kansas previously served as head coach at Tulsa after serving as an assistant coach at his alma mater for nine seasons.

THE SERIES
Syracuse leads the all-time series against Wake Forest, 7-1. Last season the Orange defeated the Demon Deacons, 78-70, at the Carrier Dome and then posted a 73-64 victory at the ACC Tournament in Brooklyn.
