Orange jump to highest ranking of the season
After a thrilling comeback win over then No. 2 Duke, the Syracuse men's lacrosse team has vaulted into the top-10 for the first time this season.
The Orange check in at No. 8 in both the USILA coaches' poll and Inside Lacrosse media poll, which sets up a seventh-straight game against a ranked opponent when 'Cuse travels to South Bend this weekend to face No. 12 Notre Dame. That will be a common theme this season, as with Hobart moving up to No. 20 this week, every Syracuse opponent on the 2019 schedule will now have spent some time ranked inside the top-20.
Penn State remained No. 1 in this week's USILA poll, collecting 343 points and eight first-place votes. It's tight at the top though, with Yale (341 points, eight first-place votes), Maryland (329 points, two first-place votes), Ohio State (303 points) and Duke (279 points).
'Cuse opponents are well represented again, with No. 5 Duke, No. 7 Virginia, No. 10 Cornell, No. 12 Notre Dame, No. 17 Army, No. 18 Johns Hopkins, No. 20 Hobart, RV North Carolina and RV Rutgers all represented.
The Orange will hit the road for the first time this season on Saturday when they face the Fighting Irish at Noon on ESPNU. There's just one guaranteed chance left to see the Orange in the Dome this season, when 'Cuse hosts Cornell in the home finale on April 9. Get your tickets at Cuse.com/Tickets, 888-DOME-TIX or in person at the Carrier Dome Box Office.
