SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Orange football team completed its third spring under head coach Dino Babers Saturday at the Carrier Dome. Syracuse used the last of its 15 allotted practices to hold an open scrimmage during "Spring Football Saturday" presented by AmeriCU.
The roughly 80-play scrimmage featured explosive plays on both sides of the ball, as six of the nine touchdowns scored covered at least 30 yards. The defense was responsible for two of them. Nickelback Trill Williams ran back an interception 75 yards for a touchdown. Safety Andre Cisco picked up a fumble and scampered 57 yards into the end zone.
Offensively, the Orange generated 566 total yards, including 402 through the air.

THE GREATEST COLLEGIATE BACKFIELD EVER?
One of yesterday's highlights was the return to campus by Hall of Famers Floyd Little, Larry Csonka and Super Bowl champion coach Tom Coughlin. The three Orange greats shared the same backfield in 1966 before going on to successful NFL careers.
Prior to the scrimmage, they signed autographs and took part in a panel discussion in the 'Cuse Fan Zone outside the Dome. In addition, the trio joined "Voice of the Orange" Matt Park at the Newhouse School's Diane and Bob Miron Digital News Center for an exclusive roundtable. The approximately 30-minute program is expected to air later this week on Cuse.com.
FOUR OUTGOING SENIORS RECOGNIZED BY NFF
Quarterback Eric Dungey, linebackers Ryan Guthrie and Kielan Whitner, and long snapper Matt Keller earned membership in the National Football Foundation's Hampshire Honor Society last week. Qualifications include maintaining a cumulative 3.2 GPA and serving as a key contributor on the football field. Since the honor society was founded in 2007, Syracuse has had 29 players receive the award. The four honorees matches the program record for the most in one year.

BIGGER, FASTER, STRONGER
Not surprisingly, the gains Syracuse has made in the strength and speed departments over the last three seasons have been critical to the rise of the program. Syracuse.com's Nate Mink examined jus how far the Orange have come since 2016.
"This is a faster team. We're a stronger team, and we need to be because the 2016 team was only good for four wins in the conference we play in," Babers told Mink.
Among this year's testing highlights was a blistering 4.29 run by rising senior cornerback Carl Jones in the 40-yard dash (laser start and finish).
