
Softball Set for Final Regular Season Road Series

ATLANTA – The Syracuse softball team travels to Atlanta, April 26-28, for their final road trip of the regular season with three games on slate against Georgia Tech. The series begins at 5 p.m. on Friday afternoon before a 1 p.m. matchup Saturday with the series finale scheduled for 10 a.m. on Sunday. All three games will be on ACC Network Extra.
Syracuse (20-25, 8-10 ACC) is coming off a dominant midweek performance against Binghamton, where 'Cuse walked away with a five-inning, 14-0, victory. Neli Casares-Maher and Hannah Dossett highlighted the offensive effort with a trio of home runs, including back-to-back blasts in the third inning. It was the first back-to-back homers for Syracuse since April 13, 2016.
Alicia Hansen and Bryce Holmgren boosted their spots in the Syracuse record books, each going 3-for-3 with two and three runs scored, respectively. The pair of seniors rank top-10 at Syracuse in 12 career categories. Hansen ranks third all-time at Syracuse with 128 career runs scored and sixth with 190 career hits. The senior ranks top-10 in five additional categories. Holmgren has showed her consistency in getting on base, currently holding the school career on-base percentage record (.485). Additionally, she holds the school hit by pitch record (45), ranks fourth in career batting average (.338) and eighth in walks (71).
Miranda Hearn showed consistency in the circle against Binghamton with her first career complete game shutout. The sophomore pitched all five innings and allowed just three hits with five walks and tied a career-high six strikeouts. In her last five appearances, Hearn has allowed just one earned run and nine hits through 17.2 innings pitched.
Georgia Tech (27-23, 8-10 ACC) was swept last weekend by conference-foe Louisville, including a tough 11-10 loss in the final game of the series. The Yellow Jackets have proven to be a strong offensive team, behind the bat of Breanna Roper. Roper, who is batting .382 this season, ranks 11th nationally with 17 doubles and 12th with 65 hits this season. Georgia Tech's pitching staff has been led by Morgan Bruce who has seen a bulk of the time in the circle with over 157 innings pitched. The junior has a 15-12 record with 125 strikeouts and a 3.68 ERA this season.
The Orange hold the narrow 5-4 lead in the all-time series, including a pair of victories from 2017, the last meeting between the two teams.
Following the Georgia Tech series, Syracuse returns home for their final four games of the regular season. 'Cuse hosts Cornell Wednesday, May 1 at 4 p.m. before welcoming defending national champions, Florida State, to Skytop May 3-5. All games will be broadcast on ACC Network Extra.
