5/24/2019 5:34:00 PM | Track and Field
Richard Floyd posted a time of 14.04 seconds in the men's 110-meter hurdles, falling three spots (0.07 seconds) out of qualifying for the NCAA quarterfinals.
With Iliass Aouani, Paige Stoner and Laura Dickinson qualifying for the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Thursday's performances, Floyd was the lone competitor for 'Cuse on Friday. Syracuse will also have a 4x100-meter relay team and a pair of 5k competitors (Matthew Scrape and Rachel Bonner) competing on Saturday night.
Floyd posted the fifth-best time in his heat. The top-three finishers from each heat and the next-six fastest overall times advanced to Saturday's quarters.
Grant Holloway of Florida posted the best overall time on the day (13.19 seconds), well ahead of anyone else in the field. Holloway was also in Floyd's heat. Two of the top-three times, including Deshaun Jackson (3rd/13.57 seconds) came out of the heat. 13.97 seconds was the last-two time qualifiers, just ahead of Floyd, who took 27th overall.
Saturday's races start at 6 p.m., with the Orange's 4x100-meter relay team. Bonner (8:05 p.m.) and Scrape (8:45 p.m.) will close the evening. Action can be watched live on FloTrack.
