
Martin, Mancini Named Syracuse University Scholar-Athletes of the Week

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Softball's Toni Martin and men's rowing's Jack Mancini are the Syracuse University Scholar-Athletes of the Week.
Martin, a junior from Raymore, Missouri, is majoring in accounting in the Martin J. Whitman School of Management. A stalwart in the Orange lineup and outfield, Martin ranks second on the team in on-base plus slugging percentage. Her 23 RBIs this season is second most on the team.
Mancini, a senior from Pittsford, New York, is majoring in advertising in the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, as well as marketing management in the Martin J. Whitman School of Management. He has served as the coxswain on the fourth varsity eight for the Orange this season.
Martin and the women's softball team wrapped up their regular season Sunday. They enter the 2019 Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament as the No. 9 seed and will face No. 8 NC State in the first round at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 8, in Tallahassee, Florida.
Mancini and the No. 9 men's rowing team, meanwhile, most recently secured their second straight Packard Cup, coming from behind to defeat No. 10 Dartmouth. They now shift their focus toward the postseason, with three weeks of training ahead before Eastern Sprints, which is scheduled for Sunday, May 19, in Worcester, Massachusetts.
