Syracuse guard Jalen Carey had 10 points, four rebounds and three assists to help USA East Coast to an 83-61 victory against Greece Amyntas in Greece on Wednesday.
The squad of college players, guided by Syracuse associate head coach Adrian Autry and assistant coach Allen Griffin, will play their second contest of a three-game tour on Friday.
"I thought our team played well," said Autry after the victory. "We executed better than I thought we would considering we only had two practices."
In addition to Carey's 10-point effort, USA East Coast received offensive production from Louisiana Tech guard Amorie Archibald (11 points), Western Connecticut State forward Fenton Bradley Jr. (11 points), Stonehill forward Will Moreton (10 points) and North Carolina guard KJ Smith (10 points). Rebounding was evenly distributed with Carey, Moreton, Smith, and Patrick Tape, a forward from Columbia, leading the club with four each.
Carey, who will be a sophomore this fall at Syracuse, saw 17 minutes of action in the win.
"I thought Jalen started off slow and then played better in the second half," said Autry. "He got in the lane and made some shots in the second half. That's what he has to continue to do to be more consistent."
