SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Offensive lineman Ryan Alexander, an All-Sun Belt Conference Honorable Mention selection last fall, has joined the Orange football program as a graduate transfer from South Alabama, Syracuse head coach Dino Babers announced today.
Â
Alexander, who appeared in 33 games (27 starts) in three seasons for the Jaguars, has matriculated to the University and is enrolled in the David B. Falk College of Sport and Human Dynamics. He is eligible to play immediately.
Â
The 6-3, 307-pound Alexander appeared in all 12 games for the Jaguars in 2018, starting all but one contest at right tackle. He led the team with 46 knockdown blocks and posted an 84 percent season assignment grade.
Â
As a sophomore in 2017, Alexander started all 12 games for South Alabama at right tackle. He also made four starts during his freshman season, including serving as the Jaguars' first-string left tackle in the 2016 NOVA Home Loans Arizona Bowl versus Air Force.
Â
Alexander prepped at Holy Trinity High School in Hicksville, New York. He was a standout tight end, hauling in 40 receptions for 400 yards and three scores as a junior. Alexander later attended Jireh Preparatory Academy in Matthews, North Carolina.
