Paige Stoner wrapped up her collegiate career with another All-America performance on Thursday night, taking seventh in the 10,000-meter run to conclude the 2019 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships for the Orange.
While Stoner's career with 'Cuse concluded, teammate Laura Dickinson took All-America Second Team honors with a 15th place finish in her first NCAA Championship event.
Stoner hung with the lead pack that slowly dwindled throughout the race, before it got strung out further with five laps to go. Weini Kelati of New Mexico (33:10.84) held off a late charge from Oregon's Carmela Cardama Baez (33:11.56) to take the gold. Stoner's seventh-place time was 33:32.80, while Dickinson crossed the line in 34:03.76.
"It was really great to pick up another All-America honor," Stoner said. "I would have loved to finish higher today, but I battled to stay up there."
A Pottsville, Pennsylvania native, Stoner ends her Syracuse career as a five-time All-American (one in cross country, four in track), including three All-America First Team honors on the track. She currently holds four Syracuse records and is a five-time ACC individual champion.
Dickinson still has one race before turning her focus to the 2019 cross country season. She will compete for Canada in the World University Games this summer in Naples, Italy from July 4-10. She will compete in the 10k.
