SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Head football coach Dino Babers and members of the Syracuse University football team will join city and county officials on Friday, Aug. 23 to celebrate the start of the 2019 season.
Â
Syracuse Mayor Ben Walsh and Onondaga County Executive Ryan McMahon will host the team on the steps of City Hall at noon next Friday for a joint city-county proclamation and flag raising. The event is open to the public and also features appearances by Syracuse Director of Athletics John Wildhack, University Vice Chancellor J. Michael Haynie, the Syracuse Marching Band and University spirit squad members.
Â
In the event of inclement weather, the celebration will be held inside the City Hall Commons Atrium at 201 East Washington Street.
Â
This 2019 Orange return 17 starters from last year's team that went 10-3 and defeated West Virginia in the Camping World Bowl. Syracuse is ranked No. 22 in this year's preseason Amway Coaches Poll and kicks off the campaign at Liberty on Saturday, Aug. 31. The Orange's first home game is Saturday, Sept. 14 versus Clemson.
Â
Season and single-game tickets for Syracuse football are on sale now online (Cuse.com/tickets), by phone (888-DOME-TIX) or in person at the Dome Box Office located in the Ensley Athletic Center. Season tickets start at $125.
