ORANGE UPDATE
Syracuse is coming off a 63-55 overtime victory against defending national champion Virginia. Joseph Girard III (19), Elijah Hughes (18), and Buddy Boeheim (14) led the Orange in scoring. Nine of Boeheim's points came in overtime, including his near half-court, banked-in three at the buzzer. Junior Marek Dolezaj led the team in assists with six to go along with 12 rebounds, which tie his career high. The win improved Syracuse's record to 9-7 overall, including 2-3 in ACC play.
GIRARD III NO. 1 IN THE NATION
Freshman Joseph Girard III leads the nation in free throw percentage in the latest NCAA Division statistics. He has converted 45 of his 47 attempts from the charity stripe, which is good for a percentage of .957. Current assistant coach Gerry McNamara holds the single-season school record for season free throw percentage. He was 90-for-99 (.909) in 2002-03.

Boston College's record fell to 9-7 after losing to Georgia Tech, 71-52 at home on Saturday. The Eagles enter Wednesday's game with a 3-2 ACC mark.

Three players average double digits in scoring for Boston College. Graduate student Derryck Thornton leads the way, scoring 13.3 ppg. The group also includes senior Nik Popovic (11.8 ppg), and freshman Jay Heath (12.1 ppg). Junior Steffon Mitchell ranks fifth in the ACC in rebounding, pulling down 8.8 rebounds per contest. He also ranks 10th in the league in blocked shots (1.2 bpg.).

Jim Christian is in his sixth year at the helm of the Eagles program. Last season he guided Boston College to its highest ACC finish (11th place) in six years.

Wednesday's matchup marks the 75th meeting between Syracuse and Boston College and the first of two matchups this season. Syracuse leads the all-time series, 48-26, including last season's 77-71 victory in Chestnut Hill. In that game, Buddy Boeheim had 13 points and went 3-for-5 from the 3-point line.
