Cardoso, Williams Ranked on ESPN’s Newcomer Impact List

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – ESPN ranked 50 newcomers that are expected to help shape the 2020-21 women's college basketball season and a pair of Orange freshmen, Kamilla Cardoso and Priscilla Williams, are among the top-25.
Cardoso is the second-highest ranked true freshman on the list and is ranked seventh overall. The 6-foot-7 center is a McDonald's High School All-American and the highest-ranked recruit (#5) in program history.
Williams, also a McDonald's All-American, is ranked No. 22 on the list. The 6-foot-2 guard joins an already impressive Syracuse backcourt that consists of All-ACC First Team selections Tiana Mangakahia and Kiara Lewis as well as junior Emily Engstler.
The duo is part of Head Coach Quentin Hillsman's No. 4 recruiting class, his second top-10 recruiting class in three years. The class includes seven freshmen in Cardoso, Williams, Faith Blackstone, Maud Huijbens, Khamya McNeal, Kiara Fisher and Ava Irvin. The Orange return four of five starters from last year and 2019 WBCA All-America Honorable Mention selection Mangakahia who missed the 2019-20 season while overcoming a battle with Stage 2 Breast Cancer. Syracuse is tabbed No. 23 in ESPN's Way-Too-Early Top-25 on Sept. 28.
