Orange Preparing for Home Showdown with Wake

After a battle with No. 1 Clemson in Death Valley last weekend, Syracuse returns home to host another team riding a winning streak in Wake Forest (3-2) this week. The Demon Deacons have won three-straight games after beginning the season with back-to-back losses to Clemson and NC State.
While the Orange dropped their most recent game to the Tigers, head coach Dino Babers was encouraged by how the team competed.
"I was really proud of how they played," Babers said during his Monday morning press conference. "We don't play games to lose. We understand that the result is the result, but I really thought that they competed a lot better than they had the week before."
The Orange are 1-5 overall and 1-2 at home this season. Wake Forest most recently earned a top-25 win over No. 19 Wake Forest, 23-16, where freshman DB Nick Anderson was named the Walter Camp National Player of the Week following his three-interception performance against the Hokies. 'Cuse will have to pay attention to multiple defensive standouts this week, perhaps none more than defensive end Carlos Basham Jr.
"Wake Forest has a defensive end that's probably better than anybody Clemson has,' Babers said of Basham Jr. "He is amazing. I'm watching him and I keep going 'How much does he weigh? Because he is so fast. He's just so, so good."
Basham Jr. has 26 tackles this season, 19 solo, and has recorded five sacks through five games. He had seven tackles against the nationally ranked Hokies on Saturday and a forced fumble.
Babers and the Orange take the field at noon Saturday, Oct. 31 on ACC Network.Â
