Lewis Named to 2021 Ann Meyers Drysdale Award Watchlist

Syracuse, N.Y.- Syracuse guard Kiara Lewis has been chosen as a candidate for the 2021 Ann Meyers Drysdale Award. The Ann Myers Drysdale Award recognizes the nation's top Division I shooting guard. Lewis is one of 20 athletes on the watch list and one of three from the Atlantic Coast Conference. This award, now in its fourth year, was created by The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and the Women's Basketball Coaches Association and is named after the first player, male or female, named to an All-America Team in four straight college seasons.

Lewis started in all 31 games at point guard last year averaging 37.4 minutes, 17.3 points, 3.8 rebounds and 4.7 assists per game. She was named to the All-ACC First Team and was selected for the All-ECAC Second Team. Lewis led her team in points (547) and field goals made (180) in 2020-21. With point guard Tiana Mangakahia back on the court for the Orange, Lewis is expected to be Syracuse's starting shooting guard as the duo will combine for one of the most talented backcourts in the country.

Previous winners of the Ann Meyers Drysdale Shooting Guard of the Year Award include Aari McDonald, Arizona (2020), Asia Durr, Louisville (2019) and Victoria Vivians, Mississippi State (2018).
