Hughes Selected 39th in NBA Draft

Former Syracuse forward Elijah Hughes was selected in the second round (39th overall) by the New Orleans Pelicans in the NBA Draft on Wednesday night. The Beacon, N.Y. native is reported to be headed to the Utah Jazz via trade.
The 6-6 wing led the ACC in points per game (19.0), points (609) and minutes played (1,175:11) as a redshirt junior in 2019-20. Hughes added 5.0 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game. He scored in double-digits in 30-of-32 contests. Hughes was a first-team All-ACC honoree.
Hughes scored 1,075 points in two seasons for the Orange following a redshirt season after transferring from East Carolina at the conclusion of his freshman year. He reached 1,000 points in 63 games, tying Mike Lee for the ninth-fastest player to achieve the milestone at Syracuse.
