Northeast Rivals to Face Off Saturday in 'Cuse

A pair of northeast rivals will square off in the Loud House on Saturday when Boston College visits Syracuse. It'll be the 54th meeting between the two programs, the fifth-most frequent overall opponent for 'Cuse and second-most among ACC opponents, trailing just Pitt.
The Orange look to snap a four-game losing streak and move to 2-3 at home this season, a building they've been .500 or better in for each of the past-three seasons.
With Tuesday, Nov. 3 being Election Day across the country, the Syracuse University football team adjusted its weekly schedule as the Orange prepare for Saturday's game. Monday is traditionally the team's required off day. Instead, they'll hold a late night practice to accommodate players' Monday classes and then be off on Tuesday.
While the off day disrupts the usual routine, Head Coach Dino Babers is thrilled for his players to have the opportunity to vote and partake in election day.
"Based on everything that has gone on in 2020 I couldn't be more excited for those young men," head coach Dino Babers said Monday morning. "That was one of the things they were talking about way back in the summer. They wanted to be involved, not only being able to vote, but being able to help other people in the community get out and be able to vote as well."
As an athletic department, Syracuse has gotten over 90-percent of its eligible student-athletes registered to vote through initiatives with the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee's voter education program 'Project 444.' The initiative is a non-partisan voter education and empowerment program aimed to encourage students to vote in the upcoming election. The goal was to get 444 of the eligible student-athletes to vote.
After election day, 'Cuse will return to its normal preparation routine on Wednesday, where they'll get ready to face a 4-3 Boston College team. Led by redshirt sophomore Phil Jurkovec, the Eagles have the nation's 29th-best passing offense, averaging 268.4 yards per game.
Saturday's game will be televised on Regional Sports Networks (YES Network locally) at 2 p.m.
