
Aouani Breaks Italian Mile Record

While he wasn't running for the Orange, it was Iliass Aouani who turned in the top 'Cuse performance at the David Hemery Invitational.
Aouani, who only has outdoor eligibility remaining, raced unattached in the men's mile, setting the Italian national record in 4:00.07. His time was good for 12th overall at the meet.Teammate Nathan Henderson (4:00.52) finished in 14th and Robert Roosa turned in a time of 4:23.20 in a field of nearly 400 runners.
In the 3k, Joe Dragon shaved seven seconds off his previous personal best, crossing the line in 8:00.28, which was the 10th fastest time among collegians. Noah Beveridge (8:10.34) in another PR time, followed by Alex Comerford (8:22.16) and Stephen Schulz (8:22.40).
Nathan Lawler then led all collegians in the 5k to finish the meet, crossing the line in 14:03.09, followed closely by Matthew Scrape (14:06.64), Dominic Hockenbury (14:21.76) and Joey Eovaldi (14:58.01).
Jamil Adams took sixth in the 60-meter hudles after posting a prelim time of 8.17 seconds. Naseem Smith (8.19) finished right behind in seventh. Andrew Aguilera (8.34) also raced.
Chris Tucker (6.95 seconds) was the last man to not qualify for the finals in the 60-meter dash. He finished 10th overall. Jordan Daavenport finished in 7.04 seconds. Davenport also raced in the 200, taking 22nd in 21.82 seconds.
In a field that featured 100 competitors, Kevin Robertson posted an eighth-place finish in the men's 3,000-meter run in 8:34.65. Keith McAteer finished 12th in the unseeded 5k race.
Andrew Aguilera finished in 51.70 in the 400-meter dash.
Connor Preseon (2:34.19) raced in the men's 1000-meter run.
Syracuse will have a final tune-up before ACCs next weekend at Cornell.
