A career-high 18 saves from senior goaltender Drake Porter earned him ACC Defensive Player of the Week honors.
The Aurora, Ontario native made 10 first half saves, keeping the Orange in the game so 'Cuse could mount a four-goal comeback in a 9-7 win over No. 7 Army West Point. Porter's previous career high was 16 saves, which he'd twice accomplished in his career.
The 18 saves were the most by a Syracuse goaltender since 2010, when John Galloway also stopped 18 shots in an 11-10 loss to then No. 1 Virginia. Galloway would go on to win his first Ensign C. Markland Kelly Jr. Award, presented to the nation's most outstanding goalie.
Porter, in his second year as a starter, enters Friday's game against Hobart ranked ninth nationally in save percentage (.621) and is averaging more than 13 saves per game for the Orange this season.
This is the second ACC weekly honor thus far for the Orange, as Chase Scanlan was named ACC Offensive Player of Week on Feb. 11 following a seven-goal performance in a win over Colgate.
Tickets for the last Dome game of 2020 for the Orange are available at Cuse.com/Tickets, by calling 888-DOME-TIX or by visiting the Syracuse Box Office (Ensley Athletic Center on weekdays or the Dome on game days).
