Radio Voices Park and Satalin To Be Honored
The 49th annual Syracuse University Men's Basketball Hardwood Banquet, sponsored by TK99, is scheduled for Sunday, March 8 at the OnCenter in Syracuse.
Â
The Vic Hanson Medal of Excellence will be awarded to Matt Park '97 and Jim Satalin, the two radio announcers on the Syracuse Sports Network from Learfield IMG College. The honor is bestowed on an individual or individuals who have ties to the men's basketball program and have made outstanding contributions to college basketball.
Â
Park has been the "Voice of the Orange" since 2004. In that role, he has handled play-by-play duties for football and men's basketball and hosted the Dino Babers and Jim Boeheim radio shows. He originally joined what was then the Syracuse ISP Sports Network in 2003.
Â
Satalin was a basketball standout at St. John the Baptist in Syracuse and then at St. Bonaventure. He was a successful head coach at St. Bonaventure and Duquesne. He was named the Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year twice. In addition to his broadcast work, Satalin has worked for the American Cancer Society and its Coaches vs. Cancer program, and as the basketball official assigner for the Atlantic 10.
Â
Tickets are $90 per person and $850 per table of 10. Proceeds benefit the Conrad McRae Endowed Men's Basketball Scholarship and the men's basketball program.
Â
Doors open for the Hardwood Banquet at 5:00 p.m. with a reception that includes a silent auction featuring unique sports memorabilia, a player autograph session and an opportunity to bid on having players sit at your table. Dinner will begin at 6:00 p.m.
