SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Former Syracuse University standout and current Arizona Cardinals All-Pro outside linebacker Chandler Jones was named to the 2010s NFL All-Decade Team announced on Monday, April 6 by the NFL and the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Â
The 55-member squad was determined by the Pro Football Hall of Fame Selection Committee and covered the 10 seasons from 2010-19. A player had to be voted to a Pro Bowl, named to an Associated Press All-Pro team or to a Pro Football Writers Association All-Conference team to be eligible.
Â
Drafted in the first round by the New England Patriots in 2012, Jones spent half of his eight-year career in New England prior to joining the Cardinals. Since Jones arrived in the NFL, no player has more sacks (96) or forced fumbles (27) than he does. He is a two-time All-Pro First Team selection (2017, 2019) and has been named to three Pro Bowls (2015, 2017, 2019). Jones also has a Super Bowl ring, helping the Patriots to a 28-24 victory over Seattle in Super Bowl XLIX.
Â
In 2019, Jones set the Cardinals' franchise record and finished second in the league with 19 sacks. Additionally, he tied for the NFL lead with eight forced fumbles, including seven strip-sacks.
Â
At Syracuse, Jones tallied 147 tackles, 27 tackles for loss and 10 sacks in three seasons from 2009-11. He was a two-time All-BIG EAST selection.
Â
Jones is the eighth Syracuse football alum to be voted to one of the official NFL All-Decade teams. He joins Jim Brown (1960s), John Mackey (1960s), Jim Ringo (1960s), Gary Anderson (1980s, 1990s), Art Monk (1980s), Dwight Freeney (2000s) and Marvin Harrison (2000s) as Orange greats who have earned the honor.
