Two-time All-American Nick Mellen added to the professional pedigree of the Syracuse men's lacrosse program on Monday night, being selected fourth overall in the 2020 Major League Lacrosse draft by the Boston Cannons.
Mellen is the 64th Syracuse player drafted and 21st first round selection in the 20-year history of the MLL Draft. Both of those totals are the most of any school. Mellen's selection is the highest for an Orange player since Nick Mariano was selected fourth overall in the 2017 draft.
The West Genesee High School product finished his tremendous career in Orange ranking fifth in program history with 55 caused turnovers. He's a two-time USILA All-American and was the Orange's top cover defenseman for the majority of his career.
In Boston, Mellen will join former Orange stars Tyson Bomberry and Randy Staats on the Cannons' active roster.
