
Orange Trio Named ITA Scholar-Athletes

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse women's tennis was honored as an Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-Academic Team in 2019-20, while three Orange were named ITA Scholar-Athletes.

Freshmen Kim Hansen, Polina Kozyreva and senior Miranda Ramirez each earned ITA Scholar-Athlete status. All three players were also named to the ACC Honor Roll last month.

An enrollee in the David B. Falk College of Sport and Human Dynamics, Hansen was 23-9 in her first year with the Orange, including an 8-3 record in spring singles.

Kozyreva, an information management and technology major, posted a 5-2 mark in spring singles and was 11-7 overall.

Ramirez holds a bachelor's degree in accounting and ranks seventh in school history with 131 career victories. An ACC Postgraduate Scholar, Ramirez previously announced she would return for a fifth season in 2020-21 after going 27-14 last year, including a 9-2 spring singles record.

For programs to receive the ITA All-Academic Team Award, a team must earn a cumulative grade-point average of 3.2 or higher. To earn ITA Scholar-Athlete honors, a student-athlete must be a varsity letterwinner with a GPA of 3.5 or higher during the 2019-20 academic year.
