Syracuse women's basketball alumna Whisper Fisher '20 signed her first professional contract this week and will play for Clube Galitos Aveiro in Portugal the upcoming season.
Â
"I am so excited to sign my first professional contract," Fisher said. "It's crazy to be able to actually call myself a pro! I have always wanted to play overseas and now I am blessed with that opportunity. It's been a dream of mine and I can't wait to see that actually turn into a reality!"
Â
Fisher is the 10th active Orange alum playing professionally and the eighth playing overseas. The 22-year-old will become the second Orange alum during head coach Quentin Hillsman's era to play professionally in Portugal, joining Taylor Ford '16.
Â
After graduating from St. Joseph's in 2019, the 6-foot-2 forward transferred to Syracuse where she appeared in 14 games during the 2019-20 campaign. Prior to her time with the Orange she appeared in all 30 games for St. Joseph's in 2018-19 with 18 starts. She began her collegiate career with Loyola Chicago, playing in 21 games in the 2015-16 season.
Â
Fisher earned her Master's Degree in Sport and Event Management from the David. B Falk College of Sport and Human Dynamics in May 2020.
