Fans looking for new ways to experience Syracuse football, without leaving the safety and comfort of home, are invited to huddle up for "'Cuse on the Couch," presented by KeyBank.
Produced by Syracuse Athletics, the virtual second-screen show will premiere on Saturday, Sept. 26, at 11:30 a.m., a half hour before the highly anticipated home opener against Georgia Tech.
"'Cuse on the Couch" is available for free on Cuse.com or via the Cuse app on any mobile device.
Cuse TV host and producer Brian Higgins '04 will anchor the coverage, which is augmented by live updates and in-game statistics, on-demand Syracuse football video content and a live social media feed.Â
Andrew Goodrich, deputy athletics director and chief marketing officer, says "'Cuse on the Couch" aims to elevate the virtual fan experience. "We want our fans to feel connected to the team and to each another. The show is a fun and interactive entertainment option, with lots of unique Syracuse content," he adds.
The launch of "'Cuse on the Couch" coincides with the reopening of the University's 40-year-old Stadium. Fresh from a yearlong, $118 million renovation, the iconic venue now boasts a new steel and fabric roof, a four-sided scoreboard suspended from the ceiling, a new sound and lighting system, and improved accessibility and Wi-Fi.
Syracuse Athletics is committed to recreating—and ultimately enhancing—the gameday experience, what with stands being empty because of the coronavirus. Providing behind-the-scenes content during home games is one way the University is making live sports more engaging and accessible.
High-impact sound and optics are part of the next generation of fan engagement, Goodrich says. "We want you to carry the 50-yard line experience in the palm of your hand."
Fans also can follow the game-day action on the Syracuse Sports Network from Learfield IMG College and @CuseFootball on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.
