CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - Eighth-ranked Virginia (11-2, 7-0 ACC) connected on 14 3-pointers and built a 13-rebound advantage in beating Syracuse (9-5, 3-4 ACC) at John Paul Jones Arena on Monday night.

The Cavs maintained a double-digit advantage over the remainder of the contest to secure the victory.
FROM COACH BOEHEIM
"Virginia is a top-10 team with the way they have been playing" said Syracuse head coach Jim Boeheim. "They're a really good shooting team and they move the ball well. Offensively, I thought we had some good looks, but we didn't make enough of them to stay in the game. I think we'll learn something from this game."
'HOOS ON IN THE FIRST
The Orange jumped out to an early 6-2 lead, but 12 unanswered Virginia points over a three-minute stretch gave the 'Hoos a 14-6 advantage with 12:43 remaining in the opening frame.
The UVA lead grew to as many as 12 during the half, but the Orange closed the gap with an 8-0 run that featured 3-pointers from Buddy Boeheim and Griffin along with a layup from Guerrier to cut the Cavalier advantage to 30-26 with 3:13 to play before the intermission.
Over the final three minutes of the half, Virginia tallied five consecutive points with a jumper from Jay Huff and a triple from Sam Hauser to take a 35-26 lead at the break.
CAVALIERS CLOSE STRONG
