Orange have five players represented on first and second teams
Seven Syracuse stars earned USILA Preseason All-American recognition, trailing just Duke for the most honorees of any team.
Syracuse, Yale, Virginia and Duke each had two representatives on the first team, headlined by midfielder Brendan Curry and goalkeeper Drake Porter from the Orange. Both have now been named as a Preseason First Team All-American by both US Lacrosse Magazine and the USILA.
Jamie Trimboli, Peter Dearth and Brett Kennedy represent the second team, while Tucker Dordevic and Chase Scanlan earned Honorable Mention nods. Complete List
Porter enters his redshirt-senior season having led the ACC in save percentage in each of the past two seasons. A USILA Scholar All-American as well, Porter is coming off a shortened 2020 campaign that saw him earn Second Team All-America honors from Inside Lacrosse and be named to the Tewaaraton Award Watch List.
Curry was an Inside Lacrosse First Team All-American a year ago and has twice been named to the Tewaaraton Award Watch List. The redshirt-junior has started 29-straight games heading into this season, and has 67 points in little more than two seasons on campus thus far.
Trimboli is rapidly rising up the career points by a midfielder list at Syracuse, entering his final season at Syracuse with 99 career points. He is a three-time All-American and was named to the Tewaaraton Award Watch List last season after leading all midfielders nationally with 3.4 goals per game in the COVID-19 shortened 2020 campaign.
Dearth is one of the nation's best short-stick defensive midfielders and enters 2021 as the first three-time captain in program history. He was named a second team All-American by Inside Lacrosse last season.
Dordevic, a redshirt-sophomore, wrapped up last season earning honorable mention All-America honors from Inside Lacrosse and was also named to the Tewaaraton Award Watch List. He has played in 20 games with 20 career starts and has 34 points heading into 2021.
Scanlan was a welcome addition to the program last season. The Loyola transfer led the team with 18 goals and 23 points in just five games last season.
Between the three teams and honorable mention selections, 78 total players earned preseason recognition, with 32 of them being represented from the five ACC programs, setting up for one of the most hotly contested seasons ever in the nation's best conference.
