Gabrielle Cooper is the latest Syracuse alumna to sign a professional contract. The 5-foot-10 Lansing, Ill., native was a four-year starter on the women's basketball team from 2016-2020. She helped Syracuse to three-straight NCAA Tournament appearances and started in every game of her 127-game career for the Orange. Cooper is second all-time in 3-point field goals (268) and started the seventh-most games in program history.
On Jan. 23 Cooper made her professional basketball debut with Penza Peja (Superleague) in Kosovo's first division located in Pega, Kosovo. In Coopers first game, she stuffed the stat sheet recording a double double with 26 points, 11 rebounds while adding five steals, four assists and a block.
Cooper twice tied the program record for 3-pointers in a game (8). The first time Cooper made eight threes in a game was in the first round of the 2017 NCAA Tournament against Iowa State. During her junior season she made eight against North Carolina in a game which Syracuse set the program and ACC record for 3-three point field goals in a game with 20.

It feels so good to live my dream. I remember when people laughed when I said I wanted to be a pro. I remember my band director told me I was too small to even get a college scholarship. Now look at me. Free degree from a top uni and IMA PRO🏀. Don't ever give up on your dreams.
