Sean Tucker continues to rack up national recognition, as he was named a Second Team Midseason All-American by The Athletic, while freshman DB Duce Chestnut was selected as one of the publication's Midseason Freshman All-Americans.
Tucker, who is second nationally in rushing with 948 yards on 155 carries (6.1 avg.), is also leading the team with 224 yards through the air. He is also second nationally with 167.4 all purpose yards per game.
Friday night against Clemson was his fifth-straight 100-yard game, which ties the Orange record, and he is on pace to shatter Joe Morris' single-season rushing record of 1,372 yards. He is on both the Doak Walker and Maxwell Award Watch Lists.
Chestnut has started every game as a true freshman, a rare feat at Syracuse. He is just the third DB in the last 35 years to be the week 1 starter in the secondary, joining Markus Paul (1985) and Andre Cisco (2018) – both of whom went on to NFL careers.
Chestnut leads the team in both interceptions (2) and pass breakups (4) and has 28 tackles through his first seven collegiate games.
Syracuse heads to Virginia Tech on Saturday, before hosting Boston College for Orange Central/homecoming the following week. Visit cuse.com/tickets or call 888-DOME-TIX to purchase your tickets to remaining games. Click here for Syracuse's current public health guidelines and expectations for attendees.
