Syracuse (4-11-1, 0-8 ACC) completed the road-game portion of its regular season with a loss at NC State (8-7-2, 3-5 ACC), 3-0.
The Orange matched shot attempts with the Wolfpack, as both clubs got off 13 attempts, but NC State was able to find the net three times.
PACK SCORE FIRST ON PK
The two squads had played evenly for the first 35 minutes when NC State earned a golden opportunity. A yellow card called on Syracuse gave the Wolfpack a penalty kick and the hosts took advantage with Lulu Guttenberger converting.
NC STATE CLOSES OUT SCORING
The Wolfpack struck early in the second half. At the 48:20 mark, Emika Kawagishi sailed an attempt over and behind the leaping Lysianne Proulx in goal. NC State's top goal scorer, Jameese Joseph, rounded out the goals with a tally at 62:58.
ORANGE SHOW BALANCED ATTACK
Syracuse had four different players -- freshman Kylen Grant, sophomore Hannah Piley, senior Alina Miagkova and senior Meghan Root -- threaten with two shots apiece. The 13 shots from the Orange came from nine different competitors.
