SYRACUSE, N.Y.- Cole Swider scored a game-high 21 points and helped Syracuse open the exhibition portion of its schedule with a 79-60 victory against Pace on Wednesday night in the Carrier Dome.

WHEN THE GAME WAS DECIDED
Syracuse took command of the contest with 5:19 remaining in the first half after back-to-back 3-pointers from Swider that started a 14-3 run. The Setters never got within 10 points of the Orange for the remainder of the game.

COACH BOEHEIM SAID
"It was a really good game for us," said head coach Jim Boeheim. "I thought our defense was good and I thought our ball movement was good. We take good shots and we make them. Pace is a solid team so overall it was a really good night for us."

JUST GETTING STARTED
Joseph Girard III opened the scoring for the Orange, beginning a 9-4 run in the first five minutes, scoring five of the nine points. Jesse Edwards recorded two blocks during the first five.

Pace trailed by just four points at the 10-minute mark of the first half. Buddy Boeheim ignited a 14-4 run over a stretch of 3:24 that gave the Orange a comfortable, 29-14 advantage.

THE ORANGE RUN AWAY WITH IT
Five minutes into the second half, the Orange strung together 15 unanswered points, led by Swider, to extend the margin to 64-36.

Jimmy Boeheim tallied all eight points in an 8-2 run late in the half that secured the decision.

NOTABLE NUMERS

Syracuse was 30-of-55 from the field (.545), including 11-of-25 (.423) on 3-point attempts.
The Orange outscored Pace in the paint, 34-22.
Syracuse has now won 22 straight exhibition games, a stretch that dates back to 2009.
Jimmy Boeheim tallied 19 points in his debut with the Orange.
Freshman Benny Williams secured nine boards for Syracuse.
