Syracuse wraps up exhibition play when it takes on Le Moyne on Monday, Nov. 1, at 7:00 p.m. in the Dome.
SETTING THE STAGE
Syracuse looks to add to its streak of 22 straight victories in exhibition games. The Orange defeated Pace at home on Wednesday night, putting away the Setters 79-60. Syracuse finished 18-10 overall and 9-7 in the ACC last season before falling to Houston in the Sweet 16.
Le Moyne opens its season with its first and only exhibition game. The Dolphins did not play in 2020-21 due to the pandemic. In 2019-20, Nate Champion's squad went 19-9 overall and 15-4 in the Northeast 10 Conference.Â
THE SYRACUSE-Le MOYNE SERIES
Syracuse and LeMoyne have met six times during the regular season and the Orange have won all six encounters. The most recent pairing was in 2008 when the Orange defeated the Dolphins, 86-51. The two Syracuse-area schools have been frequent exhibition-game foes. The Orange beat the Dolphins the last time, in 2018, 89-52.
THE ORANGE LOOK TO STAY HOT FROM BEHIND THE ARC
Syracuse opened its season on fire from three-point range, knocking down 11-of-26 shots (42.3%) against Pace on Wednesday night. Cole Swider set the pace going 5-of-7 from deep en route to a team-high 21 points in his debut performance with the Orange. Graduate forward Jimmy Boeheim added a couple more from long range and recorded 19 points overall.
HERNANDEZ LEADS DOLPHINS
Senior guard Nino Hernandez is the only returning starter from 2019-2020 and will look to start Le Moyne on the right foot Monday night. Hernandez averaged 12.8 points and 4.9 rebounds in his last season, starting 26 of his 27 games played. He scored 25 points in a win against Alderson Broaddus on November 30, 2019.Â
