WINSTON-SALEM N.C. – The Orange finished the regular season at Wake Forest in an offensive battle. Syracuse out-shot ARV Wake Forest, 15-9, in a 2-0 loss. The Orange (8-7-2 overall, 2-5-1 ACC) controlled the final 15 minutes of the match, maintaining possession in the Wake Forest (10-5-1, 4-3-1) defensive end, but did not convert.
"I am certainly disappointed with the result, but overall I thought we were very good tonight," said head coach Ian McIntyre. "I don't know if we have had a team create as many chances as we did tonight. We just need to be more technical in front of the goal moving forward for the post-season."
After a back-and-forth battle for the first 40 minutes of the game, Babacar Niang opened the scoring for the Demon Deacons making the score 1-0 at the end of the first half. Wake Forest added to their lead four minutes into the second half when Kyle Holcomb scored a goal.
