Orange Lose to Irish on the Road; Take On #3 Louisville Sunday

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Syracuse lost to Notre Dame 3-0 on Friday in South Bend. Senior Polina Shemanova and junior Viktoriia Lokhmanchuk each had eight kills for the Orange (14-3 overall, 3-2 ACC). Syracuse will play at #3 Louisville (15-0 overall, 5-0 ACC) on Sunday at 1 p.m.
"Not the way we wanted the match to go," said head coach Leonid Yelin. "I think when there is such high hopes and expectations for a match, you can psych yourself out. I think that's what happened tonight. The players wanted to win so bad that we couldn't consistently produce. We will look to make some adjustments for Louisville."
Junior Elena Karakasi and freshman Peyton O'Brien split the setting duties and contributed 13 and 10 assists, respectively, and junior Marina Markova added seven kills.
