SYRACUSE, NY. – Syracuse volleyball returns home for a two rematches against the #3 Pittsburgh Panthers (22-2 overall, 12-2 ACC) and the Florida State Seminoles (17-6 overall, 10-4 ACC). The action begins on Friday in the Women's Building on Friday where the Orange take on the Panthers at 7PM. Syracuse then hosts the Seminoles on Sunday at noon. Syracuse (16-10 overall, 5-9 ACC) is looking to continue their win streak after sweeping Virginia in Charlottesville.
Orange Leaders
Junior Marina Markova leads the ACC in total kills (416). She takes the #2 spot in kills per set (4.47) and total attacks (916). Markova is ranked top 20 in the nation in kills (416) and is top 25 in kills per set (4.47).
Polina Shemanova is ranked third in the conference in kills (344), aces per set (0.38), and service aces (35). Senior Elena Karakasi is second in the ACC for assists (891).
The Series vs. Pittsburgh, Florida State
This is the 53rd time the Orange and the Panthers will meet; Pittsburgh leads the series 41-11. Syracuse won against the Panthers in straight sets the last time they competed in the Women's Building.
The Orange have played Florida State 12 times. Syracuse seeks its first win.
The Opponents
The Panthers have won four straight matches since their loss to #2 ranked Louisville.
The Seminoles are 17-6 in the 2021-22 season. They are coming into this weekend after a loss against #14 Georgia Tech. Florida State is also receiving votes in the AVCA Coaches Poll.
