Syracuse (2-0) hosts its most familiar foe when it welcomes Central New York rival Colgate (2-2) to the Dome on Saturday, Nov. 20. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
SETTING THE STAGE
Syracuse defeated Drexel this past Sunday, in the Dome. The Orange trailed by two at the half, but recaptured the lead in the first few minutes of the second period. Syracuse opened the second half with a pair of 3-pointers to spark a 16-6 run, in which it shot a perfect 7-of-7 from the field.
Colgate is coming off a 97-50 victory against SUNYÂ Poly on Thursday night. The Raiders are now 2-2 this season and have yet to win a road game. Colgate won the Patriot League Championship and advanced to the first round of the NCAA Tournament in the 2020-21 season.
THE SYRACUSE-COLGATE SERIES
Syracuse and Colgate have matched up 172Â times, the most the Orange have ever faced an opponent. In those clashes, Syracuse holds a 127-45 record and has not lost since 1962, good for 54 straight victories. The two court combatants had played in 27 consecutive seasons before last year's scheduled encounter was cancelled because of the pandemic.
BOEHEIM BROTHERS PACE ORANGE
Senior guard Buddy Boeheim and graduate forward Jimmy Boeheim set the tone for Syracuse against Drexel, contributing a combined 37 points. Buddy Boeheim scored a game-high 23 points while Jimmy contributed 14. Elsewhere, junior guard Joseph Girard III had 11 points, which featured a 3-of-3 effort on 3-point attempts..
COLGATE STANDOUT PLAYERS
Senior guard Nelly Cummings is averaging a Raider-best 16.8 points per game. Junior forward Keegan Records has produced 7.0 rebounds per game and had a 13-board showing against Cornell.
Jack Ferguson led the Raiders in their victory against SUNY Poly with a game high of 15 points shooting 5-of-6 from the field and 3-of-4 behind the arc.
