Syracuse (4-3) begins its 2021-22 ACC campaign at Florida State (5-2) on Saturday, Dec. 4. Tip off at Donald Tucker Center in Tallahassee is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.

SETTING THE STAGE
Syracuse was one of six teams to defeat its Big Ten opponent, Indiana, in the 2021 Big Ten/ ACC Challenge. The climactic 112-110 win came in a double-overtime contest, decided in the last seconds by a pair of free throws from Joseph Girard III. Girard was among the five Orange starters to post double digit points. Although the Orange jumped out to an early, 16-point lead, the Hoosiers offense kept the contest close throughout the two halves and managed to knot the score with two seconds left in regulation. The first overtime was just as dramatic as regulation play, with Indiana tying the score yet again with just over one minute left, resulting in a second overtime session.

The Seminoles are coming off a 93-65 loss to their Big Ten opponent, Purdue, on Tuesday (Nov. 30). Sophomore guard Caleb Mills recorded a team high of 22 points during the contest.

THE SYRACUSE-FLORIDA STATE SERIES
This will mark the 13th meeting between the two teams with Syracuse leading the series 7-5. The Orange are looking to avenge the most recent matchup in 2020 with the Seminoles that resulted in an 80-77 loss.

THE BROTHERS DOMINATE
Buddy and Jimmy Boeheim recorded almost half of the points for the Orange in the game against Indiana. The two powerhouses were in double digit scoring in the first 13 minutes of the game. Buddy, on a seven-game double digit scoring streak, recorded 27 points and a career bests of eight assists and five steals. Jimmy notched a season high of 26 points. For the sixth time in seven games, Jimmy Boeheim scored Syracuse's first points.

FSU IN THE RANKINGS
Florida State received 22 votes in USA Today's NCAA Men's College Basketball Coaches Poll this week. The Seminoles were picked to finish second in the ACC.

Seminoles freshman forward Matthew Cleveland was named to the 20-player Watch List for the Julius Erving Award. Cleveland has played in all seven games for Florida State so far and is averaging 10.3 points and 4.4 rebounds per game.

Leonard Hamilton, the winningest coach in Florida State history, is in his 20th season at the Seminole helm.
