Syracuse's success pressuring opposing quarterbacks will help address hunger in Central New York thanks to the Wegmans Sack Hunger campaign. Wegmans teamed with the Orange to donate to the United Way for every 'Cuse sack in 2021.
Â
Syracuse recorded 37 sacks this season, which are the most for the Orange since 2018 and tie for fourth on the single-season school record list. Wegmans will now present a check for $5,000 to the United Way of Central New York on Friday, Dec. 10 at 9 a.m. at the DeWitt store located at 6789 E. Genesee St. in Fayetteville.
"We're thrilled to partner with these fantastic organizations in a way that positively impacts our local community," said Syracuse Deputy Athletic Director/Chief Marketing Officer Andrew Goodrich. "Thank you to Wegmans for their continued support of Syracuse Athletics and their generous donation to the United Way."
Otto will be on hand to greet 'Cuse fans at the store as Goodrich and Wegmans' Sr. Vice President of Operations Gina Gera and Director of Community Relations Evelyn Ingram present the check to Nan Eaton, President of the United Way of Central New York.
Â
"In addition to fostering a healthy lifestyle among Syracuse athletes, the partnership we've established with Syracuse University Athletics provides another avenue for us to achieve our mission of making a difference in every community we serve," Gera said.
