
Orange Dominate Army

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Syracuse women's tennis earned its second victory of the season with a 7-0 win against Army on Saturday, Feb. 13 at the Drumlins Tennis Center. The Orange have won two in a row to even their record at 2-2.

"While we miss playing in front of our loyal fans at Drumlins, we're very thankful for the opportunity to compete," Syracuse head coach Younes Limam said. "We are proud of how the team brought the energy level up and showed great resilience on the court."

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Orange won the doubles point when the No. 1 duo of graduate student Natalie Novotna and freshman Viktoriya Kanapatskaya defeated juniors Stephanie Dolehide and Caroline Vincent, 6-4, and the No. 3 pair of graduate students Miranda Ramirez and Guzal Yusupova beat junior Hannah Boubel and senior Sasha Inchauste, 6-4.

Syracuse then dominated the singles match ups, taking the victory in all six pairings in straight sets. Sophomore Polina Kozyreva defeated MaryJo Pidgeon, 6-1, 6-2 to earn the second point at the No. 6 spot. Novotna took the victory over Paola Bou, 6-0, 6-4, for the third point at No. 3 singles, and sophomore Zeynep Erman, playing in the No. 5 spot, beat Sophie McKenzie, 6-1, 6-2 to seal the victory for the Orange. Ramirez defeated Boubel, 6-1, 7-5, at No. 4, while Kanapatskaya defeated Dolehide, 6-2, 6-3 at No. 1. Yusupova finished the sweep by taking a 6-1, 6-3, victory over Vincent.

UP NEXT
The Orange take a road trip next weekend to take on Louisville on Feb.19 and then to South Bend, Ind. to battle Notre Dame on Feb. 21.
