Orange edge Duke in preseason coaches poll
Syracuse was picked as the ACC's preseason favorite by the league's coaches in what could be one of the most hotly contested seasons ever in the nation's best lacrosse conference.
The Orange garnered 21 points, one ahead of Duke, who is the preseason No. 1 ranked team in the US Lacrosse and Inside Lacrosse polls that have been released thus far. Virginia (14), North Carolina (13) and Notre Dame (7) round out the voting.
All-five teams are ranked inside the top-10 of both national polls that have been released this season, with Syracuse, Duke, North Carolina and Virginia in the top-six of both.
The coaches also picked preseason All-ACC teams, which Syracuse had four of its standouts honored. Brendan Curry and Jamie Trimboli were both selections to the midfield unit, while Peter Dearth and Drake Porter were selected at short-stick defensive midfielder and goalkeeper, respectively.
