SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Syracuse women's tennis earned the doubles point and never looked back in a 4-3 victory against Virginia Tech Friday afternoon to improve to 4-3 on the season. This Orange has yet to lose at home.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Orange took the doubles point with wins in match one and match two. The No.1 duo of graduate student Natalie Novotna plus freshman Viktoriya Kanapatskaya defeated seniors Elizabet Danailova and Nika Kozar, 6-3. The No. 2 pair of Polina Kozyreva and Sofya Treshcheva took down freshman Tamara Barad Itzhaki plus junior Rita Pinto, 6-1. Match three was tied 4-4 when they stopped play.

On the singles side, Syracuse continued to dominate early. No. 6 Treshcheva defeated Annie Clark, 6-1, 6-1, followed by a win in No. 5 singles as Kozyreva beat Shene Disbergen, 6-2, 6-0. The Hokies took the victory in No. 4 singles as freshman Ines Fonte lost to Nina Sorkin, 6-1, 6-2. Kanapatskaya sealed the victory when she defeated Kozar, 6-1, 6-3 at No. 1. Kanapatskaya has won four straight singles matches.

The remaining two singles matches were played out and Virginia Tech took both. In No. 3 singles, Rita Pinto defeated Miranda Ramirez, 7-5, 6-4. In singles No. 2 Novotna lost to Barad Itzhaki 7-6, 2-6, 13-11.
