
Lewis Nets Season-High 29 on Senior Day

Senior Kiara Lewis scored a season-high 29 points in Syracuse's 68-61 loss to #2/4 NC State in the Carrier Dome on Sunday. In the fourth quarter, Lewis hit a three-point field goal to give the Orange (12-7 overall, 9-7 Atlantic Coast Converence) a one-point lead, 54-53, with 5:33 left to play. The basket capped a five-minute, 16-2 Syracuse run that eliminated a 13-point deficit at the end of the third quarter. The teams battled back and forth for the final five minutes of the game before NC State (17-2, 12-2) closed out the contest by hitting four free throws in the final 17 seconds for the win.
"I thought that Kiki (Kiara Lewis) was phenomenal tonight," said head coach Quentin Hillsman. "She had 29 points and she was really in attack mode. She really kept us in the basketball game. If it wasn't for her, we would have lost this game by 20-plus points. She was phenomenal."
In a back-and-forth first half that included 15 lead changes, the Orange took a 31-30 lead into the locker room after Lewis drove the paint and hit a floater with three seconds left on the clock. Lewis scored 15 of her game-high 29 points in the first half.
Senior Maeva Djaldi-Tabdi finished with nine points, six rebounds and four blocks and junior Emily Engstler contributed six points, 10 boards and four blocks.

Syracuse will play in the 2021 ACC Tournament this week in Greensboro, NC.
