
'Cuse Adds Eight Mid-Year Enrollees

With the start of the spring semester upon us at Syracuse University, the Orange officially enrolled eight new members of the football program.
Syracuse added Darian Chestnut, Malcolm Folk, Justin Lamson, Terry Lockett and Landon Morris, who signed each signed a National Letter of Intent in December and quarterback transfer Garrett Shrader, who officially signed last week. 'Cuse also added Ja'Tarie Washington and Ahmad Massood.
Shrader joins the Orange after spending two seasons at Mississippi State. He appeared in 10 games with four starts as a true freshman in 2019 and was one-of-three FBS quarterbacks to account for over 1,000 yards passing and 400-yards rushing. He finished the season third in the SEC in yards per completion (13.3).
Lamson, the other incoming quarterback in the class, is rated one of the top-20 dual threat quarterbacks by 247 Sports and was a top-50 prospect out of the state of California. Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, Lamson did not have a senior season, but he racked up an impressive 3.576 total yards and 29 touchdowns as a junior.
Chestnut, a defensive back, is the highest rated defensive recruit in the Orange's signing class. A four-star prospect by Rivals, he is ranked as one of the top-25 cornerbacks in the 2021 high school class. He had three interceptions in his senior season and left Camden High School with 13 touchdowns on special teams.
Another defensive back in the class also enrolled early. Malcolm Folk is one of the top-30 prospects in Pennsylvania. The Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania native had 108 tackles, three interceptions and 14 touchdowns in his high school career, despite not having a senior season.
Lockett comes to 'Cuse from neighboring state Massachusetts. The defensive lineman had 156 tackles, 11 sacks, 34.5 tackles for loss and four interceptions in his career at Springfield Central High School. He was a dual-sport athlete in high school, also running track.
Tight End Landon Morris, who was listed as one of the top-10 tight end prospects in the class by Sports Illustrated All-American, also enrolled early. The three-star prospect out of Indiana, he had 81 catches for 1,456 yards and 13 touchdowns at Nazareth Academy.
The Orange also added Ja'Tarie Washington, a running back from Pahokee, Florida and Ahmad Masood, a lineman from Bloomfield Hills, Michigan to the squad this semester. Washington was initially a three-star prospect out of high school at Pahokee. Masood played at Cranbrook-Kingswood in Michigan.
