'Cuse Beats Towson 3-2

Syracuse earned a 3-2 in over Towson on the road Sunday afternoon. The Orange were led by Pleun Lammers who tallied five points with two goals and an assist in the win. 'Cuse improves to 7-4 overall and 2-0 this spring while the Tigers move to 0-1 on the season.Â
Lammers scored quickly into the contest when she found the back of the cage in the fourth minute. Roome Joosten was credited with the assist on Lammers' first goal. Less than two mintues later it was freshman Carly Bothoff who scored for the Orange, this time Lammers had the assist. The Tigers got one back in the 14th minute and trailed Syracuse 2-1 after the opening frame.Â
Towson's Jenna Florenzo scored at 19:10 to tie the game 2-2 but just before halftime Lammers deflected a shot by Chiara Gutsche for a 3-2 Syracuse lead.Â
The Orange controlled the second half outshooting the Tigers 13-2 and holding a 10-1 advantage in penalty corners but Lena Vandam made 12 saves, eight of which were in the second half, in goal for Towson.Â
Syracuse will have nearly two weeks to prepare for its next game, its first ACC contest of the spring season against Duke at 1 p.m. on March 27.Â
