Pro Day Awaits Orange Stars
3/18/2021 9:08:00 PM | Football
Members of the Syracuse football program will test their skills for NFL scouts on Friday as the Orange hosts its annual Pro Day.
Four 'Cuse standouts from the 2020 season, plus five players who had their pro day cancelled due to COVID-19 last season showcase their talents for dozens of NFL scouts who are expected to visit Syracuse for the day.
The likely headliners of the event will be three projected draft picks out of this year's secondary, who were invited to the NFL Combine. All-ACC corner Ifeatu Melifonwu, fresh off his Senior Bowl showing, All-American safety Andre Cisco and fellow secondary star Trill Williams got the scouting combine invite from the league this season. The combine was canceled this year, with Friday's Pro Day serving as the chance for scouts to view the trio.
The additional player from this year's team to workout is All-ACC punter Nolan Cooney. Cooney and Melifonwu are also competing for a cause at Pro Day, as both are participating in the Reps for Rare Diseases with Uplifting Athletes.
Fans and supporters can pledge to either one or both players for each vertical jump inch or punt with at least 4.0 seconds of hang time they perform at the Orange Pro Day by visiting the Syracuse 2021 Uplifting Athletes Reps For Rare Diseases page. Cooney is a cancer survivor himself and has been a frequent participant in Uplifting Athletes initiatives.
Other participants include offensive lineman Evan Adams, defensive back Antwan Cordy, running back Moe Neal, defensive lineman KJ Ruff, linebacker Lakiem Williams and running back/special teamer Otto Zaccardo.
Action gets underway Friday afternoon. Fans should follow @CuseFootball on social media for content from the day.
