This Week in Syracuse Softball: Orange Travel to Charlottesville for ACC Series

The Syracuse softball team (15-15) will travel to Charlottesville, Va., to face Virginia (xx-xx) in a four-game series beginning Friday, April 23 with a double header beginning at 4 p.m. and a single game on Saturday (3 p.m.) and Sunday (12 p.m.). All four games of the series vs. the Cavaliers will be streamed live on ACCNX.
'Cuse was swept by No. 9 Florida State in a four-game ACC series last weekend. The Seminoles hit 13 home runs in the series and scored all seven runs off the long ball in a 7-3 FSU win in the series opener. The Orange also sent four balls over the outfield fence in the series. Freshman Angel Jasso hit two home runs and slugged .889 in the four-game series. Senior Neil Casares-Maher leads the team in home runs (5), batting average (.326), and slugging percentage (.565) entering this weekend's series with the Cavaliers.
Virginia (13-25 overall, 9-20 ACC) heads into this weekend's series after being swept by Notre Dame in a four-game conference series last weekend. The Cavaliers are batting .229 as a team. Katie Goldberg leads UVA with a .265 batting average and 15 extra base hits, including six home runs. Virginia's pitching staff has a 3.96 ERA and has allowed 190 runs on 275 hits this season.
