Cooper, Penza Win KBF Championship

Syracuse women's basketball alumna Gabrielle Cooper '20 scored 20 points and had 15 rebounds in KBF Penza's win over KBF Bashkimi, 77-63, in game five of the Kosovo Basketball Federation Championship on Thursday in Kosovo. It marks the fourth time in league history, dating back to the 1999-2000 season, that Penza has won the title.Â
It was winner-take-all in game five of the championship series which saw Penza win games one and four, while Bashkimi won games two and three. Cooper added six assists and five steals in the win. In her rookie season, Cooper averaged a double double and led Penza to its first league title since 2018-19.Â
Cooper played and started in all 127 games of her Syracuse career averaging 8.7 points and 4.5 rebounds per game. She made 264 three-pointers in her career including 81 as a freshman which ranks eighth in the single-season record books at Syracuse. Cooper's 127 career starts is sixth in program history. She played on three NCAA Tournament teams with the Orange, including the 2018-19 team that hosted the first and second rounds at the Carrier Dome as a top-16 national seed.Â
