
Orange Student-Athletes Will be Celebrated with 15th Annual 'Cuse Awards

Syracuse University student-athletes, coaches and staff navigated the challenges presented by COVID-19 and experienced success on the field and in the classroom in 2020-21. In 2020-21, 14 teams participated in postseason events and 10 were ranked in the national polls during their respective seasons. In the classroom, Syracuse's 550 student-athletes posted a combined 3.1 GPA and 332 earned Athletic Director's Honor Roll recognition. Syracuse had 19 All-Americans and 48 all-conference selections.
The 15th annual 'Cuse Awards will recognize the excellence in a virtual celebration on Tuesday, June 8th, presented by Excellus. The online celebration to honor Orange student-athletes for their accomplishments on the field, in the classroom, and in the community begins 6 p.m. on Syracuse Athletics' Twitter (@Cuse), Facebook (/Cuse) and Instagram (@Cusepics).
The recognition will include the presentation of the 2021 Soladay Awards, the highest honor presented to a male and female senior student-athlete each year. The award is named in honor of longtime athletics administrator Doris Soladay. It will also include the presentation of the Syracuse 8 Courage Award, an honor is bestowed upon an individual who has overcome a disadvantaged background, a serious injury, or has demonstrated uncommon bravery or highly principled behavior in the face of adversity.
During the celebration, the 2020-21 the winners of the Rookies of the Year, Athletes of the Year, Play of the Year, Performance of the Year, Teams of the Year and Coaches of the Year will be announced. In addition, the individual team 'Cuse Awards, 'Cuse Cares Community Service Award, 'Cuse Cup, and 'Cuse Scholars and Team Scholars recipients will also be announced.
